The Integrated Project for Sustainable Production and Management in the Amazon Biome (PIAmz), coordinated by Embrapa, works in the nine states of the Brazilian territory that contain Amazon rainforest through 19 projects approved by an internal call. The main goal is to promote the production and dissemination of knowledge and technologies aimed at the recovery, conservation and sustainable use of the Amazon region by riverside dwellers, forest gathering and extraction workers, family farmers, and Indigenous peoples.

The activities are divided in four large segments: Monitoring of deforestation, forest degradation and ecosystem services; forest management and extractivism; sustainable technologies for the Amazon; and aquaculture and fishing.

PIA is funded by the Amazon Fund and operated by the National Social and Economic Development Bank (BNDES), in cooperation with the Brazilian Ministry of Environment. The administrative management of the funds is performed by the Eliseu Alves Foundation (FEA).
