Graduated in Agricultural Engineering from the Federal University of Goiás (1985), MSc in Agronomy from the University of São Paulo (1996) and Ph.D. in Agronomy, Genetic Resources and Plant Breeding, University of Brasilia (2013). Is currently a researcher at the Brazilian Agricultural Research Corporation (EMBRAPA Cerrados). He completed a specialization course in production systems at the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), in Japan; training in barley genetic improvement at the International Maize and Wheat Improvement Center (CIMMYT), in Mexico, and at the International Center for Agricultural Research in the Dry Areas (ICARDA), in Syria. He is currently a researcher, advisor and deputy head of Technology Transfer at the Brazilian Agricultural Research Corporation (Embrapa Cerrados). He is a researcher at the Coffee Research Consortium. He is a co-supervisor in the Postgraduate Program in Agronomy ajavascript:void(0)t the University of Brasília (UnB), and a collaborating professor in the Stricto Sensu Postgraduate Program in Agronomy at the State University of Goiás (UEG). He is leader of the CNPq research group "Barley (Hordeum vulgare L.) production system in the Cerrado". He is the Scientific Editor of the journal Horticultura Brasileira and an ad hoc advisor to CNPq, the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock and FAPDF. He has experience in Agronomy, with an emphasis on Plant Breeding, working on the following subjects: sunflower, barley and coffee canefora. Co-responsible breeder who developed the soybean cultivars Carla and Celeste and the sesame cultivars GNPA G3 and BRS 196. Co-responsible breeder for the launch of the irrigated barley cultivars BRS Manduri, BRS Sampa. He developed 21 restorer lines, 6 maintainers and 3 male-sterile sunflower lines. He developed the simple sunflower hybrids BRS 321, BRS 322 and BRS 323 and the sunflower variety BRS 324. He is the breeder responsible for creating and launching the irrigated barley cultivars for the Cerrado: BRS Deméter and BRS Savanna. In co-responsibility, he launched the simple sunflower hybrids: BRS 387, BRS 390, BRS 415, BRS 417, BRS 424 and BRS 422 and, in 2022, the high oleic simple hybrid BRS 428 HO. Launched the first clonal variety of conilon coffee for the Cerrado, the BRS Primalta.
