George Gardner Brown has a BSc in Natural Sciences (major in agronomy) from the University of Wisconsin (1990), an MSc in Crop Soil Sciences from the University of Georgia (1993) and a PhD in Ecology from the University of Paris VI-Pierre et Marie Curie (1999). Presently is a researcher at Embrapa Forestry in Colombo-PR. Has published as author and co-author more than 160 papers in various journals, >70 book chapters, 5 Annals and 3 books. Participated in the development of one technological product. Has supervised and co-supervised more than 25 MSc and 11 PhD students in the fields of ecology, zoology, agronomy, soils biochemistry. Received 16 prizes and/or honors, and has been on several lists of highly cited researchers in ecology in Brazil and Latin America. Has participated in more than 30 national international research projects, leading more than 20 of them. Is a member of the graduate school staff in Soil Science at the Federal University of Paraná, where he teaches two courses and supervises graduate students since 2008. Works in the field of ecology with emphasis in soil ecology, especially earthworms. In his professional activities, has interacted with more than 600 collaborators in author and co-authorships.
