Science Summit UNGA 79

The SS-UNGA is an annual summit held by the UN in the area of Science and Technology that is held in parallel to the main meeting of heads of state. The event's mission is to bring nations together to find solutions to common challenges to achieve the SDG goals of the 2030 agenda, regarding the development and adoption of technologies. The meeting will take place from September 10 to 27, 2024, in New York (New York - NY), comprising in-person and virtual events. In the case of Brazilian participation, it will be virtual.

The theme of the 2024 SS-UNGA79 is The Role of Science and Innovation in Achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The UN's choice of the theme was intended to highlight the importance of science in achieving the goals of the 2030 Agenda.

Brazilian participation is being organized by the committee composed of the ministries: Environment and Climate Change (MMA) Agriculture and Livestock (MAPA), Agrarian Development and Family Farming (MDA), by the General Secretariat of the Presidency of the Republic (SG) represented by the National Commission of the SDGs (CNODS), UNESP, Fiocruz and Embrapa, the latter being the organization's coordinating institution.

To attend any session you must register for free on the same website following the instructions in English.

Participation, as a listener, is open to anyone.

Read the step-by-step instructions below to register:
1.On the main screen, click on the Register button.
2. A new tab will open with the registration form.
3. Fill in the requested information: name, email, set a password to access the website and complete the other contact information, institution and official website of the institution (embrapa.br, for Embrapa employees) - Only the information marked with an asterisk (*) are mandatory, the others are optional and will not prevent registration.
4. Finally, click on the pink "Register" button.
5. Once registration is complete, you must then wait for an email from the event organizing committee confirming your registration and allowing you to log in to the platform.

Selecting presentations
Read the step-by-step guide below and see how to select Brazilian presentations at the event:
1. After receiving the email confirming your registration, access the event page again, but this time click on "Login".
2. Enter the email and password used for registration.
3. On the next screen, click on "All Sessions Auditorium"
4. On the next screen, click on "Click here to join the online session"
5. In the spreadsheet on the next page you can select the presentations you would like to watch and create your agenda.
6. The 4 Brazilian presentations are on the lists of the 13th (two), 16th and 18th of September.
7. If you are interested, you can include any of the other presentations available in the event program.
8. At the end, you will have your presentation schedule.
9. The button to access the room will be available at the end of the countdown, as can be seen at the end of the video.
